Alexandra Box (b. 1997) is an art administrator and transdisciplinary artist who serves on the Board at Forest City Gallery, artist-run centre. Alexandra has completed several residencies, including Medalta Potteries, (Treaty 7) in Medicine Hat, Alberta and on Salt Spring Island (Salish Sea) with Salt Spring Arts Council & Point Gallery. Alexandra’s writing has been published by Hearth Gallery, Painwise Press, Peripheral Review, and The Capilano Review. She also maintains a practice in image description/alternative-text writing and is engaged in various accessibility projects. Alexandra began her art education at Bealart and holds a BFA (2020) in visual art and curatorial practices from Emily Carr University and an MA (2024) in Art History from the University of Toronto.
Alexandra is the current Acting Vice Chairperson of Forest City Gallery, Artist-run Centre’s operational Board and has also been the Chair of Policy & Governance since 2022. She has authored many policy documents and on the Grant Writing Committee, she has co-authored and authored all grants for over two years for the centre. On the volunteer working Board, she contributed to the establishment of The Media Collaboratory, a novel project for the gallery she coined and jointly secured funding for this past year.
Based in Nogojiwanong-Peterborough, she works as an art educator at the Art Gallery of Peterborough, GATHER Studio, Kawartha Potters Guild, and with regional public primary and secondary schools on a freelance basis. Alexandra is a member at Artspace, Artist-run Centre as an artist and arts worker.
