Community Education
Teaching Engagements
For over a year, I have worked as an Art Educator at the Art Gallery of Peterborough. I also teach freelance through the Kawartha Potters Guild in public elementary and secondary schools integrating ceramics into their arts curriculum. I teach workshops with GATHER Studio, and have taught community arts and given presentations in London, Kingston, Toronto, Charlottetown, and Salt Spring Island.
Specialization
Currently I teach within both private and community spaces delivering curriculum and workshops for individuals of all ages and all experience levels. My specialization includes peer-to-peer, co-didactic learning, professional development for teens and early-emerging artists, gallery and musuem collections engagement in curriculum development, and print media and ceramic material practices. My background as an educator in public galleries, museums, and non-profits allows for scalable curriculum and educational outreach.
Media Collaboratory
Founded in 2023 at Forest City Gallery, Artist-run Centre, the project is an on-site resource outfitted with communal equipment and software necessary for the production, post-production, and marketing of artistic work (visual, performance, music, and sound work). Affectionately shortend to The Collab, the projects marks the centre’s promotion of media literacy, professionalization, low-barrier access in the forest city.
The Collab has been created in direct response to findings from our 2023 Artists and Arts Professionals Survey, in which community members reported a significant need for low-barrier or free communal work space, equipment, and software. Featuring a wide variety of programming from monthly Soft Skills sessions, equipment access, drop-in session and the Collab Workshop Series geared toward post-production and professionalization. The Collaboratory Outreach Program is funded by the London Community Foundation as the first arts-based program the foundation has founded in its history. I am a member of the Collab Committee that is Chaired by Lianne Zannier.
